Rerez, you and the Pico are thinking with your brains, and that's the key problem. You're thinking with your brains while Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Microsoft, and all other gaming companies are not. They're focused on how to sell the latest game they've altered to suit a narrative. They don't want us to access the back catalog, even if it would make them a lifetime of profit. They're in the business of making entertainment, no matter how bad it is. If they have to sacrifice Mario to the sacred gods so that the newest piece of junk game sells, they'll do it. They'll sell their son so that their stepdaughter gets to be played. That's why they don't like emulation. That's why they don't like downloads of TV shows, movies, books, music, photos, and video games. They can't control the new media and force the new medium, getting rid of the old so the consumers only have the new to work with. That's the unfortunate reality. If they want to change something, they'll change it. If they want to take something away, they'll take it away. I highly doubt we'll get a universal all-in-one back catalog of every single game, including popular mainstream licensed games, from the head corporations. It's not in their playbook, no matter how profitable it could be. They cannot control the narrative and brainwash us if they can't dictate the media. It's just not in their playbook.

I was a victim of a fake Sega Genesis by Atgames (here’s the story), Christmas of 2017 i asked for a sega genesis because i love sonic. I got the genesis and it was by at games. I thought it was real until i played sonic 1 and the music was weird. Then, I check the console and it said at games. I was grateful tho, and i still have that Genesis and i have a few games, but 1 day i will get the sega genesis mini ( the one Sega made.)

Oh thank God, I’m so so happy and relieved to see the name of the game was time traveler not hologram because I saw the thing in a walk-through of some arcade like the galloping horse or something turn on the top of it it just said hologram and I knew that couldn’t be the title. I was gonna be so mad if it was and I just never remembered it. I didn’t remember time traveler either, but as soon as I saw it, I recognized that that was the title, I wonder why the title isn’t on the machine in the arcade

I had a mad catz n64 controller that didn't survive as long as the OEM controller. I only used the mad catz controller for shooter games and used the turbo function.

Not all Optical drives can read all console games. Some need firmware fixes and some like Dreamcast don't have a PC equivalent. Now making copies/backups are pretty easy and most systems can be used to copy the games over a network that contains a computer on it. Playstation I have found does very little to protect their games from being read though so they are generally easy mode.

Physical games take up money, time and often overlooked space. Many of us don't have enough of any of those but a ROM/ISO/or other image free from DRM is just as good as physical if not better to me. The problem with most digital games is being locked to hardware or at least an account. Without that the game/information is truly free.

I don't know Pelican controllers were pretty bad too 😂 For some reason there was one model MadCats controller I had for GameCube that was pretty decent. Can't remember which one. But it fit my hands well and I beat a ton of games on the cube. I always took care of my stuff so it lasted me a couple of years before the sticks wore out. Good times. Now you have to replace your controller in less than 6 months of hardcore gaming 😢

Please remind people at at the time, first party manufacturers patented their controller designs. So 3rd parties had no choice but to modify the original controller design enough to not get sued
